So you want to lament
and let out
a howl
in the night gives one a fright
causing shivers across the
skin
a cat a strange idiom
fashioned by Seba Smith,
used by Mark Twain,
“She knew more than
one way…”
streets, a drag, if you are new to
town
ships little communities
full of love, hate, anger, fear,
desire
under the elms
a novel, a mythical tragedy
borrowed from the
Greeks
an ancient people of great renown
for their effect on
Western Civilization
and its epitome
America
may be waning
from constituent fear, ignorance, lies, misinformation,
selfishness, party first, country second.
I hold these truths
to be self-evident…..
Pro Trump and Pro Law Enforcement?
What an inconsistency, how one can be both is beyond me. Trump is not at all a friend of law enforcement by virtue of his past treatment of all agencies of law enforcement from the federal level down to the local level. His shows of disrespect began with the FBI, then the attorney general’s office, the department of justice, he demeaned judges, the supreme court, and the list goes on. For local law enforcement, my beef is the lack of calming the marchers on the Capitol, because of his lack of action many officers suffered physical and mental injuries because of the incomprehensible actions of a crowd of dissenters. He, Trump, understands nothing about law enforcement. Another item that many I presume didn’t comprehend was when he gave a speech at the IACP convention in New York City and actually said, “When you see these towns and when you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just see them thrown in, rough, and I said, ‘Please don’t be too nice. Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over, like, don’t hit their head and they’ve just killed somebody, don’t hit their head, I said, ‘You can take the hand away, OK?’”
His English is atrocious, but the message is there, violate the Constitutional rights of the arrestee. I spent forty years of my life in law enforcement, four years military, seven years city patrol officer, and thirty years teaching police professionalism and this man comes along advocating Constitutional violations of human rights. We do have a court and penal system to take care of the punishment aspect. It is not the role of the police to administer punishment in any way. The biggest threat to police safety is the actions of fellow police officers. Mistreated people seek revenge in different ways. One way is throwing projectiles of all sorts of things at the police officer. I lucked out one night when someone threw a large piece of cement block at me while my back was turned, it flicked my ear and fell to the ground in front of me, and splattered. By the time I turned around that person was gone. I conjectured my fellow police officer (s) must have mistreated this person for him to harbor such anger and seek revenge on a uniformed person. If you want to know what real local policing is about read my book, “How to Survive Police Patrol Work,” by me, on Amazon.
CPAC
So I heard that at a CPAC meeting members gave an ovation when they heard the news that Biden didn’t make his promised number of covid vaccinated Americans. Something very wrong here. I guess when they come down with it they will change their minds. This reminds me of the time when Trump mimicked a disabled person. I watched the crowd, not him. They, the crowd, giggled and squirmed in their seats, as many do when attending a comedy show. I was appalled. Not particularly at Trump but at the behavior of the audience, a comedian is a comedian. Reminds me of when I was in high school. A large girl tripped and fell and her skirt flew open. Those around laughed and pointed while I helped her up and recover her composure. I guess these are the same people. I also noted often in his speeches he said nothing, but his antics seemed to please the crowd. They laughed, hooted and, giggled.
